Unit TasksEQ1: How are humans motivated?
1. Begin a new set of Cornell notes and start a Unit 4 folder in Google Drive
2. Read the document titled motivation and complete the activity on Maslow at the bottom. Add relevant information to your Cornell notes. 3. Share your list on Maslow's needs with your table and then compare with the correct answers Scott provides. Fill in the correct hierachy at the bottom.
4. Watch the clip on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs 5.. Project Log #1: What motivates you to turn in your assignments? What motivates you to leave your home on a Saturday? Explain. Think of multiple examples.
6. Interview at least one other classmate about their motivation. Read and fill in the biological and psychological needs portion of the sheet below. Also, add relevant information from this sheet to your double sided notes. 7. Answer Essential Question 1 on motivation in your Cornell notes.
8. Complete the emotional intelligence quiz below. Discuss your results with your classmates. EQ2: What is emotion and how is it processed?
9. Read and annotate the article on emotional intelligence. Participate in a class discussion on the topic.
10. Watch the clip below and add relevant information to your Cornell notes. Page 420-429 in your textbook can give you the same information if you prefer to read.
11. Answer EQ2 on emotion in your Cornell notes.
EQ3: What is the effect of stress and emotion on health?
12. Watch the clip on stress and add it to your double sided notes and answer EQ 3. You can use 441-454 in your text book if you prefer.
13. Finish work on part one of your project, creating a series of questions or tests that will reveal a person's motivations, emotions and stress.
EQ4: What is personality and how do different psychologists approach it?
14. Complete the personality test below and discuss with table/class.

16. When psychologists test personality, they can use two different types of tests they can give. One is an "objective test" like the personality trait test you did for Step 9. Another type of test is a "projective test" like the Rorschach inkblot test or the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). Project Log #3: Look at the inkblot and describe what you see. Also, look at the image and write a short story that describes it. We will discuss as a class.
17. Watch the first 5 minutes of the following documentary on Sigmund Freud. It will serve as an introduction to Freud.
18. Read the article on Sigmund Freud and add it to your Cornell notes.
19. Do the activity on defense mechanisms. Share answers with small groups. Will will discuss as a class.
20. Answer EQ4 on personality. Use your documents and the tests you took to help you.
