Unit Two: Biology and BehaviorProject Objective: For our project, we will be evaluating our own personalities using the biological approach. In doing so, we will ask how do neurotransmitters, hormones and our brain structures affect who we are?
Driving Question: How can we, as objective psychologists, examine and evaluate our own personality, so that we consider the biological perspective's role?

Unit TasksEQ 1: What are neurons and how do they "communicate" with each other?
1. Add the sheet titled "Neurons" to your NEW Cornell notes for this EQ. As a part of this, you will need to label diagrams on the motor neuron and the synapse. The link to the right can help with labeling.
2. Access the chart on neurotransmitters. Add information on the types of neurotransmitters to your notes. Use the link too, if you need.
3. Use the information from the neuron sheet and the neurotransmitter link to answer the EQ. Create 2 superheroes based on neurotransmitters to use as a mnemonic device.
EQ 2: How is the brain and nervous system organized?
4. Add information from document titled, "The Nervous System and Endocrine System" into your notes.
5. Label and describe the structures of the "older" brain. Then add information from the document into your notes.
6. Watch the clip on Phineas Gage.
7. Label and describe the parts of the cerebral cortex. Then, add information from the document into your Cornell notes.
8. Read the article titled, "The Split Brain: A Tale of Two Halves." Add relevant information to your Cornell notes.
9. Use information from tasks 4-8 to answer your EQ2.
10. Watch the clip below as an introduction to sensation and perception. There is no need to take notes. EQ 3: What is the difference between sensation and perception?
11. Add the information from the following document to your notes. The clip is just a fun example. You don' t need it in your notes.
12. Access the set of clips on vision below. Use it to note the key content on the document provided.

14. Use the information from the clips and document to answer EQ3
15. Show Scott your notes for a grade.
16. Finish remaining parts of Unit project. 17. Take Unit Test. 18. Participate in discussion sharing findings of your project. |
